Barcelona Provincial Council
Barcelona Provincial Council is a representative provincial government authority. Its members are provincial deputies who are elected from among the mayors and councillors of 311 town councils in the province.
The basic aims of Barcelona Provincial Council are: to guarantee that all the town councils in the province may exercise their functions; to ensure that citizens receive high-quality municipal services; and to ensure that town councils are the authorities in closest touch with citizens and those that provide the greatest number of services.
Among the Barcelona Provincial Council’s key implementation strategies are environmental protection and sustainable land use management.
The Nature Reserve Network of Barcelona Provincial Council is a network of 12 nature reserves that have great landscape, ecological, and cultural value. They guarantee environmental and land use balance to 99 municipalities, covering an area of 100,625 hectares, and represent 22% of the metropolitan area where 70 % of Catalonia’s population lives.

   
 
 
Santa Coloma de Gramenet Council
The municipality of Santa Coloma de Gramenet has an area of 6.57 km2 and 117,000 inhabitants. It is located north of the city of Barcelona between the River Besòs and the Sierra de Marina. The town saw spectacular growth between 1960 and 1980, which turned it into one of the most densely populated towns in Spain. Santa Coloma is currently making great efforts to promote and develop programmes to restore periurban areas in order to improve the environmental and urban development quality of the natural areas around the town.

   
 
 
Mollet del Vallès Council
The municipality of Mollet del Vallès has an area of 10.8 km2 and 47,270 inhabitants, with a population density of 4.38 inhabitants/km2. It is part of the Vallès Oriental region. It is a flat area, with strong agricultural roots, although in recent years economic development has stemmed from the industrial sector. It is well connected with the city of Barcelona and other towns and villages in Vallès. This has encouraged the growth of residential neighbourhoods.
Mollet del Vallès has been a pioneer town by opting for sustainable development of its municipal area; it recently promoted the creation of the Gallecs Rural Area .

   
 
 
Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park Consortium
The Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park, located between the lower valley and delta of the River Llobregat within the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona, has an area of 2,938 hectares. Since 1998, it has been managed by a consortium consisting of Barcelona Provincial Council, the Regional Council of Baix Llobregat, the Farmers’ Union of Catalonia, and 14 municipalities. It is part of the Nature Reserve Network of Barcelona Provincial Council.
